More youth on the table!
My name is Wanjiko Kihika, alias Shiko Kihika, I serve at Tribeless Youth. Tribeless Youth is an initiative or an organisation by young creatives, young activists who love their country so much to go out and vote for this country but also to archive our history and teach about our political history through the history that was there and the current history and the recent past history. We work with artists and creatives to make sure the power of art is cultivated by our communities and have the communities own the process.
We’ve had an incredible journey from starting without an office to all the way building and hoping from one office to another being hosted and now having our own office. It’s been an incredible five years where to find a partner who would support you with zero capacity, no policies, no structures, but just with an idea, go with you all the way to a day when you have clarity of where you want to be as an organization five years later. It’s been the power of amplifying our voices and the voices of those we serve, the voices of those we work with, and also being in this journey together with Voice as a partner.
Then there’s one incredible thing that I must talk about right now, and it’s the power of nothing for us without us and having young people on the table and at the center of decision-making. This has been the center of our work and having more young people from across the counties come out, stand up, and fight for what is theirs, but at the same time advocate for a just community that truly works for them.
