The Malian Coalition of Human Rights Defenders (COMADDH) is a local organisation based in Bamako that works for the promotion of human rights and the protection of human rights defenders. It organises workshops and training for Human Rights Defenders in the country, advocates for better protection of human rights, develops tools for the promotion of human rights and works on issues such as transitional justice, women’s rights, democracy and human rights.

In January 2017, the government of Mali approved a draft law for the protection of human rights defenders (HRDs). The National Assembly approved the law in January 2018 after certain amendments. For the law to enter into force the Council of Ministers must now approve a decree to set the terms and conditions.

The Human rights defenders (HRD) are your defenders’ visibility campaign raises awareness and supports the implementation of the new law on the protection of human rights defenders in Mali. Through different media (radio, television, social networks), the campaign explains who HRDs are, what are they doing and why it is important to protect them.
