    The Association of African Women Communication Professionals (APAC) Niger is a Nigerien association that brings together communication professionals such as journalists, producers, directors, and filmmakers from the public and private press.

    The general objective of its members is to participate in the amplification of voices and greater visibility of women by women by presenting a real image of women reflecting on their effective participation in the economic, political and global development of our country.

    It is affiliated to the Association of African Professional Women in Communication (APAC) created in 1984 in Dakar, Senegal, by the will of women journalists from French-speaking Africa during the seminar on the content of programmes for women journalists organised by UNESCO.

    • Project

      The Yarjejeniya Bisan Labarun Yanar Gizo project consists of the development of a “Social Media Charter in Niger” and is being implemented by a consortium of two civil society organisations – Women and Youth-led Civil Society Organisations (APAC – African Professional Women’s Association in Communication – Niger Branch – and ABCA – Bloggers Association for Active Citizenship). Through the actions of these organisations, the objective will be to support and train women and youth in the following sectors: associations, social media and traditional media.

      This project, which mainly reaches those facing marginalisation and discrimination, namely women and young people. It also aims to influence policies and behaviours in order to advance the common interests of young people and women. It will be implemented in seven regions of Niger – Niamey, Agadez, Diffa, Dosso, Maradi, Tillabéri and Zinder – for a period of 12 months.

      The lessons learned and all project activities will be shared and disseminated on social and traditional media (television and radio) through blogs, videos, photos and audio recordings.

      One of the main expected results is the accompaniment of 240 female bloggers (18 – 45 years old) and 15 young people (18 – 35 years old) to professionalise their social media support through the creation of professional blogs and websites that can enable them to make entrepreneurial use of it to substantially increase their income.
