    The NGO Mieux Vivre avec le Handicap is a Nigerien local organisation  founded in 2008. It was officially registered in 2013.

    The overall objective is to provide education, training and social integration or reintegration of people with disabilities to participate in the country’s development as well as social and cultural processes.  Mieux Vivre avec le Handicap educates people with disabilities about their rights and duties, and how to become a fully  active citizen. Their interventions have led to a change in the behaviour of people with disabilities in the city of Niamey, partially due to the participatory planning they do.

      The project Live Happily With  Your Handicap aims to empower 50 women with disabilities in the capital city of Niamey.
      The women are organised in groups of ten women per district to help strengthen their organisational capacity. During the first phase, women are identified, organised and trained in cosmetics techniques (soap making), simple accounting, production planning and marketing. This training enables them with little financial means to carry out an activity generating activity to help them to become autonomous.  This project helps to change perceptions and stigmatisation of women with disabilities and that they can participate in the socio-economic development of their country.
