Association of young girl leaders Gollobès
-
Gollobé is an association of young girl leaders in Torodi, created in March 2018. The CBO was founded as an offshoot of the NGO Cercle Dev (another Voice partner) in order to develop a community approach to enable girls’ participation in decision-making activities.
Thus far the young association has organised several awareness-raising activities for young people on issues of peace, drug use and citizenship. In addition, they have raised awareness on the education of the girl child, the retention of the girl in school, forced marriage and law suits which are the reasons put forward by many parents to end their children’s education.
As citizens’ action, they held several sanitation sessions in the town hall, the prefecture and the health centre. There is a zero plastic campaign in the city of Torodi. An initiative that mobilised a large part of the population and especially the association of young people who were not interested in protecting the environment before.
