Garry Mugar

Voice Regional Program and Grant Support Officer – Asia

Contact: gmugar@hivos.org

Garry is a development practitioner with a decade of experience in operations and project management support services, 6 of those years with foreign-funded programmes providing technical and administrative support in the implementation of various investments in health (through The Global Fund), education and anti-human trafficking initiatives (through Australia’s DFAT).

In performing his previous duties, Garry was given opportunities to attend a couple of events and activities held internationally, including his participation in the training provided by the UN Institute for Training and Research and CIFAL Jeju on “Victim-Centered Approach in Asia Pacific Region” which was held in South Korea. He was 1 of 24 representatives from the Asia-Pacific Region.

Garry is a Civil Service Professional in his country, which led his way to government office, on coterminous, at the beginning of his career. He is also an HIV Counsellor trained by the Philippines Department of Health and has done a number of individual counselling sessions in the past.

Garry majored in Business Management but he thought life has led him to a different path. He has spent the past 10 years working with people and developed a broad understanding not really of business, but of “development organizations and the people” – a great experience which he now calls his “business of helping others”.

He enjoys dancing and has voluntarily taught kids and young at hearts some dance moves!
