  • Organisation

    Motherhen Development Foundation (MDF) is a Non-Governmental, Non- Political, Non- Religious Organisation and cuts across ethnic groups in Nigeria. MDF is geared toward improving the quality of life in communities and families, especially the Poor of the Poorest (PoP).

    MDF is dedicated to the upliftment of women and young people, especially the underserved and the unsung women and youths in our rural communities by identifying the issues affecting public health, gaps in basic education, environmental hazards, socio-economic, political, leadership development, capacity building, and specialised vocational education training, rural development initiative (RDI).
    MDF is also an umbrella body to 125 Co-operatives and Community-Based Organisations CBOs whose members are in various (un)skilled professions. Agencies can take advantage of our spread and partner with MDF to sensitise rural communities on various projects. MDF provides social development platforms in rural communities through education and income generation skills that are eco-friendly to improve the lives and social standing of communities, these have ripple effects on health care, education, and economic development of the nation.

    MDF has been able to break the huge barriers that exist in language, religion, culture, and convenience by designing a localised approach that allows women and youths of the same or different backgrounds to reach out to their peers thus creating massive extension services which can be deployed in marketing any product.

    • Project

      The rationale is to improve and strengthen the capacity of communities by promoting the role of women and girls in economic empowerment, understanding their fundamental human rights, and also bring about male partnership in addressing Gender injustice in communities and also to address the culture of silence in our communities through capacity building of target beneficiaries in the selected communities for economic sustainability and enhance community responses to eradicate gender injustice in their communities.

      Most research findings indicate that while in recent years there is greater awareness regarding gender injustices, behaviors have changed little. ‘What needs to be done?’ is the objective of this campaign:

      1. Launch campaign “YAKI DA CIN ZARFIN JINSI” – ‘War Against GBV in Gombe & Southern Borno States’ to create awareness for Poor of the poorest women, women Living with Disabilities and Adolescence girls in the communities concerning Gender injustice and Economic justice;
      2. To create awareness for women and girls in communities to deal with issues of VAWG, create a safe space as well as boost their economy and link them to market opportunities; and
      3. Engage the community to ensure that actions are taken to mitigate VAWG risks and utilization of the existence of referral pathways available to be used for reporting suspected cases of VAWG.
