Mbeleni was founded on recognition of the fact that while there are a number of efforts by government, humanitarian agencies and many other diverse stakeholders to address Refugee’s plight in Uganda, the scope is still small and calls for strengthening to address gaps of inadequate Refugees access to essentials services and full recognition/ realization of their rights.

The project seeks support to address the rampant causes of GBV with the refugees community by refugee empowering the Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) with knowledge and skills that will support them to be self-reliant and advocate for their involvement in decisions that affect their wellbeing and to prevent and respond to the impact of GBV.
