  • Organisation

VivNcaug (Sisterhood for Development) is a non-profit group that supports the well-being of women and girls to reach their full potential, break the cycle of poverty and raise their status in society. The group was initially set up by Hmong women who were concerned about the limited educational and economic opportunities available to ethnic minority women in Laos.

Their vision is to achieve an equitable world where ethnic women and girls have equal access to essential opportunities and resources to empower themselves and shape society. The group’s main goal is to build a community of socially aware and economically empowered women working together to narrow the socio-economic gaps. The group has three pillars:

    • Educational development, which encompasses building the knowledge and skills of women and girls by supporting their access to formal and informal education and training.
    • Economic empowerment, which focuses on creating opportunities for women and girls to supplement their income, particularly through the Sisterhood Handicrafts social enterprise, where members can receive training in business development, marketing, and handicrafts design.
    • Lifestyle and gender promotion, which focuses on enhancing the physical and mental health of Hmong men and women by developing a supportive network and providing health and social awareness training.
