On 27-29 October 2023 in Luang Prabang (LPB), Laos, two young coffee-making trainers from Skillbender, Noy (Thipphaivanh Phimmaseng) and Ming (Kwanchai Chantavongsa), were invited to participate in a very exciting event and celebration: the International Coffee Day. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s bustling economic capital, provided the perfect setting for this momentous event. The city’s infectious energy, and its cultural melting pot mirrored the diverse range of participants and the very essence of the event’s focus: inclusion. Tanzania Linking and Learning and Closure Event took place from May 8th to 10th, 2024. The event wasn’t just about looking back., but a vibrant celebration of eight years dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalised communities in Tanzania and where we are now.
Our journey began with a vision to excavate our culture and tradition, the rich cultural tapestry of the Kouy indigenous people, a community whose voice has been fading into the background of modernity.
For me, the journey to Vientiane, Laos, marks my first visit to another Southeast Asian country. I had the opportunity to witness the event and interact closely with Voice Laos’ grantee partners.

Meet Ayesiga Flossy, a 40-year-old woman from Hoima City who embodies resilience and determination. A loving wife and mother of four, Ayesiga has confronted life with a physical disability, a journey that has shaped her into an emblem of inspiration. She also holds the notable position of Chairperson within the Hoima Union of Women with Disabilities (HUWOD), a testament to her leadership and unwavering dedication.
On June 4, 2024, we had the privilege to take part in the close out event of Voice Indonesia. Led by Pamflet, its Linking & Learning Facilitator, and the Voice Country Team under the Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial, we spent a whole day of vibrance and togetherness with Indonesia Inklusi.
Every Saturday, Sign Language For All hosts a small meet-up between deaf people or people with hearing impairments and people who want to know more about sign language. The goal: making connections while learning and teaching sign language!
The Voice journey in Uganda started with a single step in April 2016 and to date, those who have walked that journey have not remained the same. The Voice in Uganda linking and learning and close out event on May 29-31 held in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, were a testament to the transformative journey Voice in Uganda, together with the linking and learning facilitators, have undertaken.

Rady Sa, 24, is a Tampuan woman from Ratanakri province in northeastern Cambodia experiencing a transformation in life. In 2022, Rady was among 21 trainees selected for a film training course with Bophana Center. This course was a part of the project “The Arts of Visibility and Positive Social Change”.
