Through Kampung Katong and the spirit of decolonisation, the initiative sought to position local reality as the main reference in solving problems faced by the community on a daily basis. Local knowledge and identity become the compass in resolving socio-environmental problems and enriching culture, education, community welfare, and the sustainability of living spaces and livelihoods. This process takes place by involving young people, women, indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities, and local citizens as key actors enabling cross-generational contextual learning.
The Kino Media Foundation is an organisation that encourages the creation of a diverse and empowered society through film culture and/or short films. Together with the filmmaker from Bali, Nirartha Bas Diwangkara, they raised an issue that has not been visible to the surface of the Indonesian public regarding gender-based violence in the Balinese spiritual environment. They raised this through a film called Where the Wild Franggipanis Grow.
Pada Tanah Bapak Ku (In the Land of My Father) is an exhibition and festival initiated by Komunitas KAHE in collaboration with Persatuan Waria Kabupaten Sikka/Perwakas (Transgender Association in Sikka), Institute of Philosophy and Technology Creative (IFTK Ledalero) and the community of creative of young people in Maumere. This was held on 11-31 August 2023 Sikka, Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara.
