Devi Leiper O’Malley
Devi Leiper O’Malley is a Cambodian-American working in social justice and philanthropy, supporting funders and organizers to redistribute resources for social activism. For the past decade, Devi has been working with feminist funds around the world. She was a co-executive director of FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, the first and largest participatory fund for young women, girls, and trans*youth around the world, where she oversaw the growth of the fund from an incubated project to a multi-million dollar fund. She currently serves on the Board of Urgent Action Fund Asia and the Pacific and on the Advisory Circle of Root. Rise. Pollinate! Devi’s work is underpinned by her experiences supporting identity-based communities and projects in the US, Uganda, Cambodia, Afghanistan, and globally with refugees, sex workers, and garment workers.
In 2021, she co-founded Closer Than You Think – a hybrid ideas studio and consulting collective that co-produces different projects including podcasts, digital campaigns, and research on feminist leadership. She continues to work with feminist funds and initaitives, especially on strategy design, organizational development and belonging and meeting facilitation. She enjoys doing her own digital collages and graphic design, and teaches intercultural music to children.
