Project
Inclusive Local Urban Forums (LUFs) are envisioned by the Urban Areas and Cities Act (2011) and comprise of persons with disabilities, youth, women, and ethnic minorities. This project aims at enhancing the participation of persons with disabilities in governance and political processes in Narok County by activating and empowering inclusive Local Urban Forums (LUFs) in 5 urban centres ( Narok Town, OlolulungaTown, Nairagiae Nkare Town, Kilgoris Town, and Mulot Town). The LUFs shall be trained in social planning and supported to develop simplified County budgets. This shall build the capacity of the LUFs to take up their citizen oversight roles and increase County Government budget and development planning processes. Devolved governments (County GovernmentAct- (2012) and Urban Areas and Cities Act – 2011) as set out in the Constitution bring government closer to the citizens with an expectation for vibrant and meaningful oversight on the performance of public governance institutions. Urban forums, with their socio-economic and demographic complexities, provide fertile ground for the exercise and contestations in civic engagement.
