The Association Malienne pour la Protection des Albinos (AMPA) is a Malian community-based organisation set up to protect the rights and lives of people with Albinism. AMPA’s goal is to improve the living conditions of people with Albinism, to facilitate their social insertion to the community and to fight for their rights and protection. AMPA is a member-based organisation of people with Albinism exclusively.

The principle of Nothing About Us Without Us is strongly adhered too in AMPA’s work. In their words: “We first determine our objectives, then elaborate a calendar with deadlines, we set the internal rules and regulations we have to adhere to, we identify the needs to be addressed and the tasks to be divided according to the talents of each of us and we work in a pleasant ambiance and good moods.”

The Observatory for the Rights of People with Albinism in Mali project is implemented by the Association Malienne pour la Protection des Albinos(AMPA). AMPA reinforces their leadership on questions related to Albinism in Mali by creating a defender’s network of persons with albinism at the national level. This project is the graduation of their previous Voice project titled PROSED’A: Raising awareness on albinism in Mali that raised awareness at all levels in Mali about albinos and their importance and right to live in the society.

The project identifies, informs and denounces all events related to the law and violations of the rights of persons with albinism in Mali while promoting artistic exchanges, transfer of knowledge and know-how in artistic fields. The innovative aspect of this project is that it creates a platform able to inform and denounce all violations against people with albinism.
