COME Initiative was founded in 2017 and dully registered in 2018 as a youth-led non-governmental organization. With the high rate of unemployment among young people in Kenya, COME Initiative was formed to empower individuals and equip them with work readiness skills to enable them be ready for the job market. This also targeted talented individuals who were mentored and nurtured and given a platform to showcase their talent while advocating for issues in society and the same time getting paid. Through lack of information and knowledge on issues on health, COME Initiative targets Youths and Adolescent Girls and Young Women and empower them with such information through life skills development that also equips them with other relevant skills such as communication skills

currently, we are implementing Jiajiri (self-employment) program in the informal settlement of Nyalenda A slums in Kisumu County and is currently on its fourth month. Through the Jiajiri Innovation Hub, the Adolescent Girls and Young Women are being trained and mentored on: Fashion design where they are being trained on dressmaking, tailoring, fashion design skills and making of reusable sanitary towels. Through the hub, they are being linked with potential clients for their products and merchandise for the purpose of selling them and making money hence earn a decent living. Through this, they are able to create employment for themselves through using the hub as their workshop and doing their work from the hub and even making customer referrals to the Hub. They will also get a chance to tutor and mentor other cohorts in the project. As a result, they will be champions in their locality and act as a point of reference. This we hope will also create a sustainability mechanism for the hub through the AGYWs supporting the hub through a percentage from the sale of their work done at the hub. The innovation hub is also a safe space for the AGYW to have creative focus group discussions and mentorship sessions on Sexual Reproductive Health, Mental Health, Leadership and Governance.
