    Ishtar MSM, as fiscal hosts for this project, was formed in 1997 after a staging of the play Cleopatra at the Kenya National Theatre. This was an entry point to lives of MSM in Nairobi and opening an atmosphere of trust and openness. The organization has over the years developed strong allies, partnerships and networks and is one of the member organizations’ in the Gay and Lesbian coalition of Kenya. In 2002 Ishtar was registered with the ministry of social services as a self-help group.
    The organization will host an independent consultant contracted to lead the writing of a 5-year Learning document, Voice impact stories and voices of change from the 400 plus grantees of Voice.

      On April 7, 2021, Voice turned five! Voice,is in the process of closing the first phase grantee projects and related administrative processes covering a total of 400 grantee projects.As part of the closure process,Voice aims to produce an an elaborate learning document, that details the processes involved in the generation, documentation and dissemination of knowledge by a) Voice as an institution enabling grantees to engage in knowledge generation and b) the grantees who generate the knowledge and consume it. The project will not be creative writing only but a deep dive to identify the impact stories, most significant change stories and thought provoking stories out of the 400+ Voice grants.
