    The Lao Farmers Network (LFN) is a farmers’ organisation run and managed by farmers, with farmers as an executive committee, the Department of Agricultural Extension and Cooperatives as its steering committee.

    The LFN has been stablished on January 20, 2014, the purpose is to share information, experiences and information to members in the following areas:

    1. Increasing access to funding;
    2. Marketing improvements;
    3. Access to information;
    4. Distribution of resources among farmers;
    5. Access to external support;
    6. Exchange of knowledge between farmers.

    • Project

      The project “Improve access to agricultural business of People with disabilities” Aims at promoting agribusiness for families of farmers with physical disabilities to generate income for families and people with disabilities in farming profession. The method involves people with disabilities and their families with the activities, needs identification, business plan training, managing family economic, and promoting agribusiness within families of people with disabilities.

      This idea emerged because many people with disabilities have limited employment opportunities, they do not have core and stable jobs. In addition, their family members must give all of the effort and time to take responsibility for daily expenses. They still lack the means to earn a living, have stable and sustainable income in life.

      Helping them and their families build sustainable careers through capacity building in business planning and recording income expenses can help them to have a better life and sustainable income and can reduce their burden in life. Farming is the way to help them and their families to secure finance without having to move out to work in other areas. This project, with the ultimate hope, will help them to overcome challenges and create the steady occupation for them.
