OKOA New Generation (ONG) is an experienced, transparent, accountable and Community-led non-profit organisation in Tanzania. ONG’s overall goal is to sustainably improve the standard of living of the local communities with a focus on youth and women. ONG centres its development approach around active community participation and partners with both local and international organisations to ensure institutional and capacity strengthening and sustainable development. Through its tailor-made, direct community engagement, it has nurtured strong relationships with the local communities, local and central government authorities and other development partners. It has a strong governance structure with an efficient and effective financial management system that ensures maximum transparency and accountability.

Project
The grant applied by OKOA New Generation aims to support the project to improve the sexual and reproductive health, rights and well-being of vulnerable adolescent girls in Arusha. At the end of implementation, the project intends to achieve the following:
- Young girls are empowered to increase their knowledge, information and confidence in decision-making over their sexual reproductive health rights and gender equality;
- Improved income and economic status of young girls through sustainable business and entrepreneurship activities
- Increased support from government, families, households, and communities to create an enabling environment for promoting girls’ reproductive health rights and economic status.
Furthermore, this project intends to empower young girls in family planning, gender and sexual reproductive health and education to increase their knowledge, confidence levels and decision-making regarding their sexual reproductive health and rights aspect. The project will establish adolescent girls and young women groups and empower them with entrepreneurship and business skills, economic opportunities and access to finance, markets and technical services to scale up their businesses.
