Uganda Women’s Cancer Support Organisation (UWOCASO) in partnership with Buwaya Hope Project( BUHOP), through Voice’s support, is working with the community to improve care for women with cancer in Mende subcounty, Wakiso District.
International Women’s Day serves not just as a beacon of celebration for women’s achievements but also as a critical reminder of the enduring struggles for equality and the urgent need for inclusivity in our societies. The theme for this year’s observance, “Invest in women: Accelerate progress” resonated deeply with our beliefs at the Smile Again Family Project.
In Narok County where the Maasai culture flourishes lies a silent revolution; a movement propelled not by force, but by compassion, understanding and resilience. The Binti Wa Pawa project, stands as a testament to this spirit, knitting together community dialogues, survivor empowerment and innovative sports outreach to dismantle the barriers that hold back women and girls from reaching their full potential in life.
Following the success of the first activity “Community Solidarity for Women Empowerment” in October 2023, the Community of Practice (CoP) – Women team conducted their second workshop on 11-12 December 2023. This workshop aimed to push ending discrimination through joining hands with various stakeholders.
With the common goal of standing up for women empowerment, the Women Community of Practice (CoP Women) of VOICE Cambodia, with the support and facilitation from Linking & Learning Team, Live and Learn Cambodia, implemented a joint community project called “Women’s Voices Toward Inclusiveness”.
“If a man cooks for a community, they will finish it and ask for more, but if the community cooks for just the man, he won’t be able to finish it.” This Igbo adage reflects a situation that unfolded in the Umuode community of Nkanu East, Enugu State. It personifies an event where the women of the community marched to a man’s house one peaceful morning, insisting that he beat all of them before he could proceed with his daily activities.
