Eight photos will be featured from four talented local photographers which will be up for a public vote during the panel mentioned below. The two winners will be announced after the panel who will each receive a grant of 5000 Euro as part of an agreement with Voice to showcase inclusion in practice by Voice grantees In Tanzania.
The state of photojournalism in East Africa
During a panel planned from 6-8PM on 1st February 2019 a diverse group of renowned panelists will debate the state of photojournalism in Tanzania and beyond. The audience will be made by photojournalists, photographers, social media personalities and there will be ample opportunity for Q&A.
Some of the questions will revolve around:
- What is the state of photojournalism in East Africa?
- Is there space for African photographers in international media to tell stories that go beyond an oversimplified “African narrative”
- How do African photojournalists document their own country, history and environment?
