    • Project

Association for the promotion of livestock farming in pastoral zone (ASPEL) is an organisation operating in the Maradi region especially the pastoral zone where nomadism is applied. The practise of nomadism is not only a mode of production but also a way of life. The Schooling BORORO youth project tackles the issue of schooling of young people in the pastoral area of Bermo, and specifically the enrolment and keeping of the Bororo girl in school. This project is implemented in the rural municipality of Bermo, the heart of the pastoral zone, more than 200 km north of Maradi which is, without doubt, the most isolated municipality of the Region.

The project implements sensitisation sessions, listening frameworks at the school level, radio debate sessions and advocacy to challenge the conscience of all stakeholders (Municipal authorities, leaders of Peuls bororos groups, village leaders, leaders of tribes, Parents of student). As a result, the low schooling rate of children in general and the girl in particular will improve.
