Project
Giving Voice through Art project uses art as an innovative tool to enhance awareness of the challenges faced by elderly disabled women, expanding access to opportunities, and education as well as increasing capacity for advocacy throughout Battambang province. This project creates change in the behavior of the community through strengthening inter-generational linkages between the younger generation and elderly disabled women. It enhances the participation of elderly disabled women in promoting awareness on issues of disrespect, abuse, neglect, decreased confidence, and lack of health care.
The project increases lobbying and advocacy capacity for elderly disabled women to participate in the implementation of the National Ageing Policy while promoting economic empowerment for elderly disabled women. Elderly and young artists are grouped together to create artwork and performances expressing their issues of disrespect, abuse, neglect, decreased confidence and lack of health care services. These artwork and performances created by the elderly disabled women are put in exhibitions resulting in generating community awareness on the issues they face.
