Project: SIXTH SENSE, inclusion of visually impaired people in the district of Bamako

    Brief summary of the project/Introduction

This project will be implemented with visually impaired young people who, in addition to being direct beneficiaries, will be involved at every level and stage of the implementation. For the implementation of the project, a system of correspondence will be set up between sighted and visually impaired young people. A group of sighted young people will be put in contact with another group of visually impaired young people, and they will work closely together throughout the project and beyond. They will be trained together in the techniques of moral support to disabled people, on computer and communication skills (ICT). They will take part in training in Braille (writing for the visually impaired), in the production of awareness-raising videos and in the Organisation of medical consultation days for the prevention of blindness. The groups will participate in the project through contributions and multiform actions. They will be equipped with new approaches for the implementation of actions to protect and promote the rights of people with disabilities: creation of a synergy of action, periodic animation of exchange spaces, the use of social networks for awareness raising. In the long term, they will be able to draw up an action plan to combat the exclusion of people with disabilities.
